Freelance remote work

Has anyone made freelance remote work work for them? If so would you mind telling me how you got into it and what you do?

Education consultancy. I was already doing it in person, so we shifted original bookings online.
I don't like it, however, and don't find it as effective in most cases. I still offer F2F (masked, in a ventilated room) whenever possible.
