How to become a paramedic

I really really want to be a paramedic in the future but I just don't know how to make that jump. Our family finances can't afford for me to go university (plus I'd have to do an access course first) as we rely on us both earning. I earn about £21k pro rata in admin - not brilliant but more than the NMW that carers are paid which I'd need to do to get experience in healthcare to support any EMT applications.

Feels a bit impossible unless I win money or wait another 10 years then the kids are older and I may suddenly feel ok about jeopardising what we have for something I want?!

Am I missing something?

Hey, I am doing an MSc in an allied healthcare course. I have got £13k income this year from Student Loan and NHS Bursary. You might be eligible for similar depending on your household income and whether you have previous healthcare degrees. Google paramedic science degrees and NHS Bursary for more information. You also might want to post in Chat / AIBU as you will get more responses x
