I’ve joined an agency and I start on Monday as a kitchen assistant. Never worked in a school before but excited to get back to work that fits around the school run. Any idea what I’ll actually be doing? Is it washing up and chopping veg?

Assisting in the kitchen, prep food, clean, tidy up tables , sweeping the hall of kids eat there, serving food. All depends on what the other people are doing

It all depends on whether meals are cooked in house or brought in, I have worked in a school where we cook all meals a team of 10 of us, So we worked on a rota basis so we all got to do a different job each day other than cooking,So monday maybe I would do sandwhiches, tuesday would be desserts, wednesday would be pan washing, thursday would be plate washing friday would be something else,This all comes under the prep before lunch service, We would all serve lunch except the people on washing up duties who would be in the back and not serving,Then at the end we would all clean the kitchen and sweep and mop the dining room, Its a nice job to have, and one which fits in really well with family life,Hope you enjoy it OP
