Changing contracts

Hi I have just been informed that all support staff (primary school) are changing to term time only contracts at the start of September. There is also going to be a change in staffing. We have been sent out an information pack and all of the positions available are for ft hours. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on the rules of changing contracts? Can employers change contracts and not offer pt positions?
I’m off work as I’m isolating but I will give my union a ring for further advice too.

Is it due to a change in management/ownership under the TUPE procedure or just general changes?
Deffo speak to the union as there should be a consultation

General changes and the budget being lower.

That sounds like a potential redundancy situation so definitely seek advice from union and ask about consultation time frames. How long have you worked there?

Thank you for you reply. It’s just not very clear and states term time 37hours next to each position so not sure if we could job share. I’ve worked there for 6 years but only recently changed to pt.

Yes, so they could make you redundant and replace you with someone working full time if they made a good business case as to the work needed to be allocated in this way. I used to be a union rep in education and there's lots to do to support staff and scrutinise the employer in situations like this.

Is it LA or an academy or similar ?
