Website ... problems with uploading pics ... can anyone help?

Hi, I'm struggling with designing my own website (keeping costs down!) for my new business venture. However, although i can upload my pages, the pics (whether bmp or jpg) won't upload. Does anyone have any ideas?

PS I've tried using two different FTP packages, but it happens with both.

Thanks in advance all you clever bods out there!

which FTP program(s) are you using?

Will they actually not upload (i.e when you select the picture files and click upload it gives you an error) or can you just not see them when you go to the page?

if the first, what is the error message?

if the second, are you sure the online file structure matches the offline one? (sorry if that's obvious!)

I was wondering if it was set to ASCII mode instead of binary ... ?

can you set an FTP package to ASCII???

You learn something new everyday...

I was thinking of permissions problems at the hosting company.

Yes you can (in AceFTP and Cute anyway), but usually they're set to Auto, so it's probably not that at all. Just seems odd that she can upload text ok but not images and that was the first thing i thought of ...

Err thanks for all that, although I'm not really sure what any of it means! Basically, I'm using Microsoft Publisher to deisgn it - I save the page as a web page, then preview it and it looks fine. When I look at it online though the pics just have the small red x in the top corner. I've tried Core FT lite and WS_FTP, but not sure about the settings for either. Does this shed any more light? Thanks for your help so far!

Detta - publisher will be saving the pics in another folder (usually called "images") and you have to upload those as well as the .htm file.

If in doubt, right click on one of the pictures offline and click properties - it will tell you where it is saved.
