Seen a job in the field I was in 10(!) years ago. Been a sahm, moved house, illness..what the xxx do I put on my cv? Also they want someone who can make films etc. I know I can do this, or I can certainly learn with you tube. But I don’t have examples.
How do I bluff? Or even structure a cv? My last attempt obviously isn’t working. 🙁I suspect they see the timescales and run a mile. Also why employ me, when a 27 year old knows all the modern stuff and is miles more energetic. I’m 50.

How long would it take you to make a mini film or two that showcase your skills? If not too long then I think it might be worth it for you to do that as having a portfolio they like can be a game changer

Agree with PP. Could you spend some time putting something together?

Also, is making films the main part of the job? If you can demonstrate most of the other skills that they need but need to learn this one, I would still go for it.

I've just gone back to work after a nine year gap so it can definitely be done! Good luck 🍀

Well done schmalex!
Thanks you are both right. Getting overwhelm! I’ll make some stuff over Xmas.

Has anyone any cv tips? I feel such a twit writing in that jolly positive way, and then it’s oops all 10 years ago.
Should I mention,’ since leaving x, I’ve moved home 4 times, raised 2 kids, been a carer and dealt with ( my own ) serious illness?
Doesn’t sound that great, but what else do I put?!

I would just say 'career break for caring responsibilities' and focus on what you are looking to do now and why you want to return to the workforce.

Oh thanks, that IS helpful. I felt so stupid putting, mum, or trying to make volunteering for the pta sound good. When it’s obviously pants.

I certainly wouldn't put being a Mum
Apart from anything else it will piss off any mums on the panel

Feelingoood · 30/12/2021 22:28

Definitely thanks for that! Certainly don’t want to piss off any mums.

Why do I want to return to the workforce? Apart from getting out of the freaking house and forcing Dh to do more housework! And earning my own money!
