hi all

am needing some help please, the wisdom of all of you out there if you've a few mins to spare

Im currently working in recruitment, and im in a new department, but am feeling like ive not got much job security, i rent my house with my DP who is employed in a secure( well as secure as can be!)job on the up an up, my job has never relaly been all thatimportant to me in terms of a career, i wouldnt work if i didnt have to.. however DP and i are goin to be TTC-ing form june which i know is a while away, and im sure im treading on some toes just being here!! apologies if i am. I just dont know what to do about my job, because i am constantly worried about being made redundant, but dont want to leave as money is gd and because i will qualify for mat pay, however im worried that i will get pg andbe made redundant, this happened to me last year while 8 wks pg and the stress caused me to have a part mc and have to have a d and c, obv very traumatic.

Am more than ready tohear your views? would you leave and start again elsehwere and re-build mat entitlement, thing is i dont want to wait to try? or would you ride it out and hope for the best and run the risk of being made redundant again? i know this is long winded but any opinion would be fab. Its further complicated by the fact that my partner and i are both just getting out of debt and currently have loan repayments to meet each month as well as bills and rent etc. sorry to ramble but jus need some down to earth advice!!! PLEASE

Wannab sorry to hear about what happened last year.

Do you have any particular reason to think you will be made redundant from this job? If not, aren't you just as likely to be made redundant from a new job, as well as not necessarily having enough service for maternity pay by the time you are pg?

Finding and starting a new job is stressful, even leaving aside the maternity pay question, and you don't have much security of employment for the first year anyway, so unless you have got reason to believe you will be made redundant I'd consider staying put.

I think i will, i don know if it was the last redundancy making me paranoid but as it is a new team and we have had our bonus taken away already, we are being assurred other projects are coming our way and i am more productive and have more responsibility than my counterpart, i am just feeling really insecure atm.

thanks for your kind support, m/c nearly broke my heart, wanted another straight away but needed time to heal, head and heart.x

I know, I've been there too, now have wonderful DS, so fingers crossed for you.

I know it's hard but try not to worry too much, just remember how good you are at your job, that will definitely be a plus in any redundanc situation anyway!
