Work from home jobs - Advice needed please

I started to become interested in working remotely from home recently and wondered if it is relatively straight forward these days to apply for jobs like this? I like the idea of working as a web chat / email customer advisor and I would be happy to work evenings and/or nights. So far I haven’t had any luck in finding any jobs like this. It might be that I’m not looking in the right place. Of the websites I’ve looked at when I type in ‘work from home’ and ‘part time’ in the search criteria I’m ending up with a massive list of jobs with only a handful which actually involve working from home. So many driving jobs, cleaning and care work which would be fine but don’t quite fit the criteria of working from home!

Does anyone know where I could look to find a job like this please?

They're not actually that easy to find OP. I've seen Microsoft advertise genuine vacancies. I just looked quickly and found these (not Microsoft)
careers.wearefintel.com/jobs/1467620-customer-services-advisor-home-based

careers.msichoices.org/VacancyInformation.aspx?VId=132507

careers.tsg.com/job/telecoms-and-connectivity-sales-specialist-52.aspx

@FortunesFave Thanks so much, I thought they might be tough to find. I’ll have a look at the links.

Unless you are some sort of management, much of it is Sales phone work (whether inbound or outbound) and targeted sorry.
A lot of insurance companies now work from home but I would not class it as do what you want/under no pressure.

The only company in the last year I recall as having the nearest to live chat agent vacancy was where you had to work 35 hours daytime in a contact centre for minimum wage taking calls and actually spend evenings and weekends (remote working) working paid over time per week clearing live chat and emails - that was for one of those live experience day's out/voucher ecommerce type of company.

I remember at interview they didn't shy away from saying they had just got rid of the apprentices so presumably rather young people who use to do the live chat sort of work for them.

Indeed.co.uk
Reed.co.uk
Flexjobs.com - bit more searching needed here as more international.
LinkedIn
remote-jobs.com/jobs/

Might be different here (I'm in Ireland) but there are loads of remote jobs now, especially since Covid. Some as async (work when suits you), some like Shopify and the AA are often recruiting for evening customer service shifts.

Try "remote" instead of "work from home" when searching.

HairyFeline · 07/12/2021 23:31

What line of work are you in, OP?

RedSquirrelsAreAwesome · 08/12/2021 22:45

Thanks all for the tips, I’ll look at those websites and also try googling remote working instead.
I’m on maternity leave at present but normally I work in a supermarket. I was hoping to have a go at some remote working if possible.
What prompted it is me doing a couple of web chats with John Lewis customer service and thinking I reckon I could do this!

@RedSquirrelsAreAwesome if you look on LinkedIn there is an option to filter jobs and you can choose remote or hybrid Smile
