Hi - does anyone know if bank holidays are paid during maternity leave.

Don't know if there is an official rule, but during my first maternity leave in 99/00 I was paid them extra to my 18 weeks.

I'm sure I didn't get them added to the 18 weeks - but then there was only one bank holiday (August) in the period so I didn't worry too much as I went back a week before Christmas, just in time for lots of bank holidays, a Christmas lunch, and short days for Christmas and New Years Eve's. If I'd been off from mid December to Mid April and missed 6 Bank Holidays I might have been more concerned.

Entitlement to holidays (public or annual leave), pension etc all accrue as normal whilst on 'normal' maternity leave. There is no automatic entitlement when on extended leave, it then depends on each company's policy.

Thanks for the replies - my husband was most impressed with the prompt responses (it was for someone who he works with)
