Relocating, salary advice Midlands - accountant

Hi, we are thinking about relocating to the Midlands in Derbyshire but my partner is nervous of the salary reduction although I am trying to show him it is all relative and we would get a lot more property for our money. He is currently a senior Financial Controller in London. If he were to get a similar role in Derby/Nottingham/Leicester/Birmingham please could anyone advise roughly what he could expect to earn. You are right about it being all relative. And it will depend hugely on the company as well. My dh is a FD in the east midlands and he says they find it difficult to recruit as once people reach a certain level they hot foot it down to London so your dh might be at an advantage. Talking to some of the agencies is probably his best bet and he might feel reassured then.

That’s a pretty wide area you are looking at so that will help.

Could he stay in his current job and work remotely?

I think it will be a bit tricky to stay in the current job sadly as he would be required to be in the office a couple of times a week which might be too long a commute, but it's good to know there are jobs in the Midlands. Any idea of roughly what sort of salary he could expect? Thanks again

I don't know much about Derbyshire but there are other areas of the midlands that can get you into London for an hour that are still very reasonably priced, granted depends where in London he is but if only a couple of times a week a slightly longer commute isn't too bad? Just to keep options open.
