So I don't know if it's my SAD kicking in, or if anyone else feels the same

Started my part-time job in February, originally working from home 2.5 days and office 0.5 days a week. Slowly the office time increased and I'm now in the office all 3 days 9-5:30. I appreciate this is how things used to be pre-covid but I feel like my employers haven't registered the fact that it improves work/life balance, therefore mental health, and even productivity etc!

What are others doing? And does anyone else feel like this? X

I think people feel exactly the same. I just left a permanent job based in tge office 9 till 5.30 every day as it was just awful. I have a contract for 18mths totally at home apart from popping into office for visits once a week. Its been a breathbof fresh air. I suppose it depends on the people you work with and culture and if that makes it enjoyable. I fdidnr like the culture so it was a no brained for me to leave. There so many home based jobs now. I've got the best of both worlds great job and nice people. Even though its contract I'm hoping it will become permanent.

Yep, I've been in my office job for coming up 4 years in April! I have a very strict and controlling boss and basically no colleagues, we did the first lockdown and then have been full time in the office since June 2020! I am planning on quitting with nothing else lined up and maybe doing some temping in the new year because it just isn't working for me anymore (not that it ever really did) I feel chained to my desk and I actually think I hate office work (at least work that involves being in an office all day everyday) .. I'm having a hard time figuring out what I could do though! :(

@Keke94LND that was my situation working for a company that just hadn't moved forward with flexible policies. Like you I felt chained to my desk I got so depressed. I lined up a 3 month temp contract first then left now Ive got a 18 mth home contract with more money. Best decision I ever made

I had to leave corporate work because it was draining the life out of me, in spite of the good pay and conditions. I think some of us are just not cut out for sitting at a desk all day.

I've retrained to work with animals, and even though the hours and money are worse than I had before, I much prefer what I'm doing now. I work in a busy vet clinic, and occasionally I cover reception if they are stuck, but it doesn't bother me as I know it's only temporary.

I think sometimes people look down on manual type jobs, but for many people they are more rewarding and less stressful. My friend has retrained in horticulture and is now working as a gardener. She loves it, even though it is tiring work.
