Civil Service Assessment Centres

i was wondering if anyone has recently applied for the civil service and if so have you been invited to an assessment centre yet?

my husband did his interview a couple of weeks ago and hasn't heard back yet about whether he has got through to assessment centre round. i believe that the roles start in January so surely they need to let people know soon so they can give notice to current employers?

it was HMRC he applied for, "interview" was where you download an app and the questions appear written on the screen and then you record your answers, so he hasn't interacted with any humans yet during this process.

also any experiences of assessment centres with civil service or advice for them would be greatly appreciated! thanks

I just declined a job with HMRC but the only interview I had was what your DH has done, the pre recorded one. I was just offered the job after that, no more assessment centres or anything.

Oh wow that's good to know, maybe he will hear soon though. Thanks @ilikewinter! We haven't given up hope as it's not been rejected on the portal thing. I would love for him to just be offered the job and be saved the trauma of an assessment centre!!! I've only ever done one of those once when I was 20 and it was super stressful and awkward. The application process did say that they have an assessment centre if successful at interview though... Hopefully they change their minds!
