I've been offered a job with flexible hours but don't know how this will affect my UC. I currently get the full amount as not working and I have 3dc. I seem to recall that the benefit cap isn't applied if you work 16 hours or more a week which would be fantastic along with the earned money. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge please?

Run your new circumstances through the calculator and see what changes it makes, it will give you a far more accurate result as it will take account of all of your circumstances.

If you have variable earnings then your Uc will adjust each month. Any earnings in your monthly assessment period will reduce your Uc by 55p for each pound you earn ( from Dec when the new taper rates start ). You will also have a work allowance as you ahve children. So if you claim UC rent element the first £335 of earnings would be disregarded before each pound reduces your UC. If you don't have rent element it will be £557 ( from Dec ). You will be much better off working.

Will I still get UC during the assessment period? I've googled but can't make sense of it at all. I've been claiming since 2020 and not had to report a change yet.
