Any newly qualified nurses quit their job or transfered?

Hiya! I qualified as a nurse in September and been at my new job for 6 weeks now and I cannot stand it. I loved training and still love nursing but I'll be honest, the job I accept wasn't my first choice, but is in the area of medicine I love. I thought I could just get on with it but it's becoming apparent that this just isn't for me at all! I'm on a preceptorship but my preceptor is rather complacent and uninterested, so not really started it. I'm completely miserable. I dislike the department, the type of nursing and struggling to fit into the team. I cannot see any future where I can stay here. I'm considering asking the ward manager and matron to be added to the transfer list. If not, I might have to look at joining another trust. I'm desperate I will take anywhere but here Sad!! So my question is, has anyone else quit their job or transfered whilst newly qualified? Is it too early for me to bring it up?

That's a tricky one. Ideally you'd want to stay a bit longer say six months minimum to get a handle on the work/area.

If you really think you would be happier in another department though, it probably is worth talking to your matron. An internal transfer would be much easier to facilitate than going for a new job in a different trust.
