Interview! School / academy, will salary be non negotiable (low grade job)

I have somehow managed to get an interview for a role office / admin based at a high school.

Fortunately I am in employment at the moment so if I was offered the role I can decide if I definitely want to go ahead.

The salary is lower than what I earn, as it's an academy is there any point me asking if they will match my salary or will it be set in stone for budget requirements that the salary on the post is non negotiable?

Just wondered so I don't make an idiot of myself at interview by asking (there are many other ways I can do that!)

There will normally be a bracket so for example 15-18k. You can try and negotiate within the bracket but it means you will just reach the top of the bracket quicker on yearly increases and then go no further than that.

Unless you have a 37.5 hour/52 week contract the chances are the salary being advertised is pro-rata. Worth checking and good luck with the interview!
