Confused with period of notice is this right?

Hi so I've got a new job I'm really excited about but I'm confused about how much notice I need to give. I've been working at my current job for 8 months and been on contract since June. My contract says one calender month leave but then underneath that it says :

PERIOD OF CONTINUOUS EMPLOYMENT:

One month or more but less than 2 years atleast one week notice minimum.

So is it one week I need to give?

I'd say a week but I would personally give them more notice just in case I've misunderstood the text .

Is one of them the notice that the employee needs to give, and the other if the employer wants to terminate?

I'll ask the manager when I give letter of resignation thanks
