30 hours at nursery?

So I'm returning to work soon and my 3.5 year old should be eligible for the free 30 hours in nursery instead of 15

Is this worth it? My reasons for considering this is cos he has suspected asd, yet to be diagnosed but on waiting list. Speech delayed etc. So will bring at nursery all day help him? Any others with kids similar who have sent kids full time to nursery and has it helped

I'll only be working part time so I could keep him at home

I think it depends on the child. When my child turned 3 we kept their hours at 15 (5 mornings) because they were struggling with that.
They had a speech delay and Q. ADHD but they concentrated hard to behave at nursery and were exhausted by midday.
A whole day would have resulted in meltdowns at nursery rather then downtime at home.

Can you stretch them over the year?
So would be 22 per week approx?
Would add an extra morning on for him.

We're doing this and going to try a longer day in afew month and if he doesn't cope, back to half days.

@NewbieAlert I think he would adjust to it well

In that case go for it!
My child eats so much at nursery because all their friends do too. At home they chuck a sandwich on the floor.
Do what feels right for you and your child. You can always cut down the hours if it doesn’t go so well.
Best of luck.

I get the 30 hours but in reality it only covers 2 full days (8-6) over 52 weeks. I’d definitely send him, they gain so much from nursery.
