Maternity pay

Hi all,

I'm due to start a government job in January and am TTC as well.

They offer full pay for 6 months if you go on maternity leave, considering you've completed a year with them.

I was wondering if I got pregnant and was due in November 2022 (always wanted a November baby), would I get full maternity pay if I took my annual leave from Nov/Dec and then the maternity pay from January 2023. What do you think?

I'd appreciate your advice, thank you!

Maternity leave starts the day after baby is born at the latest.

Also, I imagine the terms state you have to have a year’s service by X date so you won’t be able to opt to receive it later, you just won’t qualify in the first place.

No I dont think that would work. You would need a years service before the due date. And you cant start leave after the baby is born. AFAIK.
