Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone is in a similar position or can offer words of advice or encouragement.
I'm a single parent with no help from my daughters father as he lives abroad. My mother occasionally helps with childcare but this isn't consistent. My daughter is now 1.5 and I'm really feeling like I need to get back into work soon. Before having my daughter I was teaching abroad then came back to the UK while I was pregnant then working in tesco full time untill I gave birth. I have a social degree and graduated in 2013. I'm seriously considering starting my career in social work as this is my passion and will be more financially rewarding than going back to work in the supermarket. I initially thought this career was no longer for me since having a child because of the high stress levels and burnout.
Does anyone else work in social work whilst also single parenting? How do you manage financially? How do you cope with having a emotionally taxing job whilst being there for your own child? Do you work full or part time?
