What are your experiences of favouritism. I have experienced them and try to understand but sometimes it doesn't make sense.

I am a manager and try very hard not to SHOW favouritism, even though I consider some of my team to be better workers/more agreeable personalities than others!

Reason: it’s divisive in a team who need to pull together, and I don’t like being on the receiving end of favouritism myself

I experienced it in my last job and used to be the whipping boy (woman) as she didn’t want to upset her favourites and pals. Once one of the other guys was larking about loudly and it was funny. Everyone was laughing but I got a sharp ‘Bashful, stop laughing and get on with your work!’ Erm why aren’t you asking the guy being funny the same or anyone else laughing? That’s right because they are your wee clique. I barely lifted my head in that job but got chewed out every time I said two words or she was in. bad mood (frequently). So I left!
