Handing in notice

I was offered a permanent job a week ago on Monday. The supervisor asked when I could start and I said Monday 8th November. I gave notice to my temporary employer which I will finish this Friday. I am concerned now as I have not heard anything since and have given up paid work with no confirmation start date. I know they were recruiting for 4 roles at the same time as mine so the HR team may be busy.

Call them.
You shouldn't ever hand your notice in without a confirmed job to go to.

I know, I usually tell other people this advice so don’t know why I didn’t do this. I will call them.

Have you asked if you can retract from your notice?

I have emailed asking for written confirmation and a start date. Not a good start to a new employer.
