maternity pay

does anybody know if my maternity pay would stop if i hand in my notice? i get SMP.

i’m due back in January but my partner has been promoted so i’m super thankful i’m now able to be a stay at home mummy until i’m ready to go back to work.

Generally yes. If you are made redundant they would pay out the rest of your smp.
If I were you, just wait until Smp ends and then resign but if you get company maternity pay some companies have a clause that says you have to pay it back unless you return to work for x amount of weeks.

I think it depends on your notice period. Probably simplest just to wait until your Maternity leave ends and then hand in your notice. Also you’ll want to take the full 12 months leave if they make pension contributions for you even after your smp ends. Then just don’t go back when the 12 months is up.
