Career change into IT

[passionfruitpizza]

Has anyone managed to have a complete career change into IT without direct experience or qualifications? Is it feasible to retrain using online courses and resources and get a job in a field like programming?

I'm struggling because "programming" is kind of nebulous phrase.

Even mere lab technicians & social scientists may do a lot of "programming" nowadays.

What job do you think you want, can you specify?
