Cancer Diagnosis

6 weeks ago I started a new dream job (that has been nearly a year in the planning and that involved relocating my family to the other side of the country for). In the meantime I've had a Mammogram and have been told it's very likely I'm facing a Breast Cancer diagnosis. I'm worried about my new job and how they will see things. I have a 6 month probation period - could they chose to just get rid of me?

Call one of the cancer charities, I think they have all info regarding employment as well as being there for discussing everything else, I have found. And good luck.

I have no useful expertise, so won't speculate. That must have been such scary and difficult news for you, and I am keeping fingers and toes crossed that things will turn out ok.

Yes it's been awful. I'm still reeling that my dream has turned into such a nightmare. I will phone round and see if I can get any answers on what it means for my employment.

There is some really useful information here: www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/coping/practically/the-disability-discrimination-act-equality-act-and-cancer

Thank you. From what I can see there Cancer is classed as a disability? So they can't just sack me. (In theory). They are so lovely to work for so I hope they wouldn't anyway. But you never know. At the moment this is my biggest worry/ upset. Sad
