To take a pay cut for less stressful work week?

Hi all,

I currently work in a fairly stressful job up town, and I’m considering leaving for a less stressful role which will of course mean a pay cut.

Has anyone ever left taken a lower paying job and felt the less stressful weeks were worth it?

OH is fully supportive and we won’t be too far stretched, we would just need to cut back on a couple of things.

The other thing is we’ve been TTC no1 for almost a year now, and I’m in 2 minds to try and stick it out for the maternity package, but I feel as though all the while I’m still in this job I’m not going to be relaxed enough conceive! Although I do feel that I’m partly miserable as we’re still trying. Although I know a year is nothing for some.

Sorry for the backwards rant, I just wanted to get some views and opinions and I feel completely stuck on the fence about it all. I had a week off work and was so happy and relaxed and got my motivation back, and then the first day back I was back at square 1, and absolutely miserable! So surely the pay cut is worth it?! Argh, going in circles!

Any advice will be appreciated 😀

I took a 2/3 payout in order to work closer to home in a more relaxed firm. It was great and exactly what I needed. It also wasn’t forever - I’ve now moved on again to chase a bit of money for a few years before I quit that career entirely and retrain!
