SEO civil service - advice?

Been offered a job at SEO level in the civil service. It’s a significant pay cut from what I am on at the moment but I’m also fed up of where I am - and I have niche specialist knowledge in what I do but difficult to deploy without working elsewhere.

Can anyone at SEO level in the civil service tell me what their monthly take home pay looks like after pension deductions have been taken out? Struggling to work it out.

And in terms of that jump from SEO to G7 (my pay is middle G7 level level at the moment) the job i was interviewed for was recruiting at both levels, and in my feedback I’ve been told what is missing for G7 competence (and it wasn’t a surprise, technical knowledge of something I knew I was blagging).

Payscales vary across departments. Use the salary calculator www.thesalarycalculator.co.uk/ and for the pension contribution rates use 5.45% of employer/gross salary.

Once you’re in and done your 6 months probation it’ll be easy to move up to G7, assuming the SEO role will allow you to acquire the additional knowledge you’re missing and they are recruiting to the G7 role.

My pension rate is 6,8% (but they put in 30%} you can make additional pension contributions too which would lower your tax. I found the flexible working options invaluable. Good luck!
