Been in current job for a number of years. Had good reviews until earlier this year. Got good review but 2 weeks after got told I should be concerned about past mistakes and also needed to improve on line management. But that I had the year to improve. It’s coming to final year end and I just feel like I’m invisible! My boss took high profile projects off me, doesn’t have 1 to 1s with me, had an informal chat re mid year but didn’t write anything, goes straight to my line reports etc. My team apparently wanted to put in a professional award for me because of my commitment to developing them but they don’t know if forwarded by the leadership team. Now there are new positions being advertised which our boss said was for x but sounds like the are team lead positions. These are usually advertised and we are encouraged to apply except none of us in the team knew about them. Should I be worried?

Do you have a new manager? If so, then yes.

I suggest:

Join a union
Email every conversation back to them (ie 'we agreed today that xx')
Keep a diary

Good luck.

No new manager. No performance warnings or PIPs but just v much feeling I’m out the main loop and being given less responsibility!

Can you find something else?

If someone is keeping you out if the loop (and you can evidence this), they aren't going to start keeping you in it.

I would try to leave if you can. Sorry this is happening to you.

I would take careful stock of your rights - sounds like they can't just fire you as you have been there a while? So the risk is they make a case against you.

Have you asked what these 'previous mistakes' are?

Does your manager have a (sensible) manager you could speak to?

I'd ask them to elaborate of these past mistakes they mention and how you can improve. Call them out nicely "Can I just you for some advice and guidance on how to improve myself and more specifically, ask what the FUCK you're smoking? Thanks fam"
