Rota issues

Hello all,

I am looking for some advise on my current situation. I am working on a rota in my current role and this has just been changed due to shortage of staff with less lines and completely different work pattern. We had a roughly 2 week notice for this new one and noticed that on a certain time when I was meant to be off on the old one I am now working. I have pointed out to my line manager that I had plans and I was told that my rat days would be sorted. I later got an email from a them to say that could not be done and that I could either ask another colleagues to swap est days with or use my remaining annual leave entitlement. Throughout Covid the rota changed a few times, sometimes with no notice. I was one of the few to work all the way through the last couple of years and have been bending backwards to cater to their needs. On this occasion I feel the line has been crossed and as much as I would like to help I believe I should be the one to decide how and when to use my AH. Any thoughts?

Depends on where you work and what your contract says.
My contract says I can work in any hospital in our group, but my roster is done 6 weeks in advance and any changes must be mutually agreeable.
Do you have a contract you can refer to or a union rep you can ask?

@Weenurse
Thanks for your reply, my contract does not stipulate anything on rota changes and notices. The union rep wasn’t too helpful either.
