HMRC Civil Service DBS Check

Does anyone know much about HMRC Customer Consultant roles?

Any idea if they do a basic, standard or enhanced check?

My mate said enhanced with barred list check, but that can’t be right, it’s not regulated activity so can’t be that level for a call centre role?

I am not in a role that I would think it is needed ( not in or working with kids / forces/ gov / law /heath care etc ) but all of our staff have a enhanced DBS check then if there are any reports on it our CEO will decide if the record is detrimental to the role / was long enough ago for it to not be a issue
i.e speeding 10 years ago , a one off offence = no problem
Drink driving 2 years ago = not acceptable

From what I’ve read I think they can only do a standard.

As you are applying to be employed by the Crown, they can do an Enhanced DBS check. Police Act 1997 Section 116. I have no idea whether they do or not but they certainly can.
