NHS reference - internal post

I left my current NHS job as it was such a long commute and I was newly qualified with no support in a busy mental health team and handed a hugeeee caseload. I went on the bank instead and handed in notice.

A dream job, closer to home with a great supportive team came up and I was successful! It’s In the same trust and has better development opportunity! I am so pleased. Internal transfer surely shouldnt be hard? I’m already working for the trust still as bank.

Everything is complete HR wise, apart from the bloody reference from my ex line manager. She was awful to deal with anyway and would always shoo me away from her door when I needed help… I’ve emailed every day to request the reference be completed. Nothing. No replies. It’s been a week, I asked a colleague to ask her and she mentioned she off on annual leave after today!! For over 2 weeks. I’ve emailed constantly. HR have even pestered her everyday!

What to do?? I knew this would be battle with the manager, she’s horrible. Can HR contact my other references that I’ve known longer anyway!? It’s so annoying..

I'm my organisation (nhs trust too) the HR dept respond to reference requests. Go on your trac jobs to page and change the referee to your current place of works HR email address

Sorry usually NHS recruitment want your last 3 years of employment as references so will likely want your current x

Thank you, I’ll have a look again. I couldnt see an edit button on Trac jobs. Just says awaiting reply from manager. Do you know where I would find out how to do this?

Yeah, I understand that 😊 I’m internal so they didn’t need to full reference checks x

Has your bank manager down an email? We do a basic one for all bank staff, dates they have been working and how many shifts

Can't think off the top of my head, maybe contact the recruiting manager and say that the reference is away for a fortnight, would the HR department be able to provide a reference, they can change it at their end

Thanks! I’ll see what way I can move forward next week using another email and see what my new manager would like iswell.
