I currently work in admin but ever since school ive always loved media/marketing/comms . I took to it like a duck to water but never did anything about it.
In a few of my jobs I’ve always been the one to end up designing flyers, posters, video editing etc , and now I’m part-time self employed and older I’ve had to invest myself in social media to market myself. I’ve always had an eye for it. I love this part of my jobs to be honest. But I’m in my 30s, I haven’t done any further education in any of this and I’ve learnt my myself.
It’s always been a huge benefit to employers but it’s never been my main role. I’ve seen interesting jobs out there training on the job but they’ve only been open to a lower age group.

Mumsnet help me. Suggest some roles and courses for me, I can’t see what it is I should be looking for. I just want to be happy at work.

Are you wanting to do the graphic design part, or the social media part?

Social media tends to pay woefully until you’re quite established, but you should be able to get a trainee position if you’ve got a bit of a portfolio. Sadly it is one of those industries where ageism is rife - because younger people tend to know more about TikTok etc. If you’ve got examples of work on current platforms like that, and up and coming ones, I’d use those over FB/Insta to help you stand out.

Graphic design is easier in my experience, less ageism and better salaries. Are you based around London? Creative recruitment agencies will have roles for people with experience even without qualifications; I get emails for them a lot (although they aren’t relevant for me).
