Totally stuck and need to decide today as was offered a week ago. Normally very decisive but am totally torn and real world consensus is 50\50 so turning to the wonderful world here to hopefully give me some clarity!

Current role: company is not great but recent merger means the future is likely to be very exciting. Package is all statutory, colleagues are a real mixed bag, some really not great. Small immediate team. Role isn’t really what I want to be doing but is easy. Mostly home based and assumption is will be post pandemic. Limited progression but as a small company they’d probably create roles (rather than having a large structure with lots of vacancies).

New: very established company (global, household name). New role and sounds very exciting. Same salary but better package (healthcare etc). People I’ve met via Zoom interviews seem great. 3 days a week in office about an hour away.

I applied for the new role as things had gotten really crap in current one. Since then things have definitely improved - but for how long!

Trying to get mat pay policy for new but assume will be better than stat where I currently am (thinking about baby next year).

I’ve been burnt before by moving so that’s what’s really holding me back, I don’t want to make the wrong choice!

What on earth would you do?!

Twist!

Skinnyjeansandsidepart · 06/08/2021 21:25

Thank you all after my shameless bump!! I’ve actually had an email to say it’s now 5 days a week in the office for the new job Hmm so I’m going to get that confirmed first thing Monday - and spend the weekend trying to understand why I feel I’m just talking myself out of it!

Thank you all for taking the time Wine have a good weekend!

5 day commute, 2 extra hours plus travel costs - that's a pay cut. I'd keep looking, the new one isn't right - you should be more excited than 50/50.

Why not go for a new job and enjoy it.

But make sure to check your contracts

BootsScootsAndToots · 09/08/2021 11:55

Agree with RemoteControlledSheep 2 hour commute 5 days a week would be a 👎 for me.

I've worked hybrid for over 10 years and I never want to be an office 5 days a week again. I find it soul destroying.

Stick where you are but keep looking.
