Supervisory skills

I've been working solo for a while but my new job will see me doing day to day supervision, which I've done before, but my people skills are a bit rusty.

What are your top tips for success?

A manager will do the appraisals, not me.

Depends really. Will you be supervising a team who are already doing the job, or are new recruits joing you in the job you have been doing solo?

Have you ever had a good supervisor yourself? What made them good?

Personally, the management skill that has worked best for me has been one that I copied from the best manager I ever had i.e. don't ask your team to do anything that you're not prepared to do yourself.
