Issues with pay following maternity leave

I'm due to return from maternity leave this month but I'm using annual leave to delay this. We are usually paid on a set date each month but the way pay works is that you're paid two weeks in advance and two weeks in arrears. I had to inform work of my intention to return to work 21 days before my return which I did via my line manager, have also submitted a flexible working request to my line manager. I emailed HR to check I would be paid on my usual pay date this month- which due to the way we're paid I should be, but just wanted to make sure. I've received a call from HR to say as I haven't informed them of my intention to return to work, I have missed cut off for this month and will be paid in September, and this will be backdated. HR are going to call me tomorrow to discuss everything in further detail, should I accept this and wait until September or ask them to make payment to me in August via a BACS payment?

TIA

Sounds like your line manager didn't let them know? I'd push back if I were you - "missed the payroll" is such a load of old nonsense, every organisation has the ability to make an extra payment if they really want to.

@Elbie79 I'm guessing so too, but all information was given when it was required. I was never told I needed to inform HR also.
