You got offered an interview (...yay!) for a job that has a closing date in 3 days time. I.e. it's still live and more people could apply for the role.

I would assume that they’d had either very small turnout of applicants and/or that my application was outstanding compared to the others.

Nothing.

I don't think my application was exceptional so I'm leaning towards not many applicants!

Dangerous to assume anything! But congratulations on being invited to interview! Knock 'em dead :)

Normally that means hey have looked at applicants CV's and have chosen them to come in for a interview or have selected more suited people for an interview.

@Mountaingoatling is also right, you should assume nothing, as may keep it open if roles aren't filled or people are not a fit to the company at interview. On the other hand a employer may have not taken down the job even after employing someone. So you shouldn't assume anything.

Thank you so much!!

I know I shouldn't assume anything - just speculating really as I thought it was odd to receive an interview before the deadline Smile

@LegalUtopia thank you Smile the closing date is clearly 29th on the website so I just found it odd because some more suitable people with more experience could apply in a few days!

They are extremely keen to get someone in post ASAP.

Very possible the interviewer availability is not good, they might not be able to easily interview after closing date (due to admin mis-comms or busy interviewers with unstable schedule).

That's also a good shout! Thank you!

As PP said, they're keen to get someone in the role ASAP- not necessarily a bad thing, but I'd definitely ask questions about why the post is vacant just incase something bad went down with the previous person in that role. Maybe it's my personal experience but companies wanting to recruit very quickly are a bit of a red flag for me so I'd want all the info!

Cattitudes · 26/07/2021 16:31

If there are a number of posts then they might have more of a rolling recruitment policy so when someone applies who seems suitable they have them in to interview them, for example in a shop, restaurant, care home etc.

It's a fab company to work for. One of my closest friends works for them currently and they are great for work/life balance.

It's also a new role - not replacing anyone!

It's either neutral or a good sign, so what's not to like? Grin

Good luck!
