Finished with kids, 30 years old with no degree…

As the title says I am 30 years old and we have finished having kids. My husband works eight till seven mon-fri and I want to go back to work.
I haven’t got a degree but I did do one year at uni so I have a certificate of higher education in drama.
I have a specialist diploma in nutritional therapy and I can practice but it is a lot of work for very little pay. Also I find it quite lonely being self-employed.

I am considering doing a degree so I can get into teaching or going into childcare and getting a diploma in that so I can work at Nursery’s. My problem is is that I have a lot of interests but I am keen to start a career and earn a decent amount while working with others.

Do any of you recommend certain career?

I work in a nursery which was fine when my kids were young but I've outgrown it now and the money is rubbish. You are young enough to do a degree which gives you lots of opportunity after and for career changes.

Teaching sounds ideal for you! Alternatively, have you considered trying to get a job in marketing? If you are good at drama etc I'm imagining you are confident. You could do a part time degree meantime, and then still convert to being a teacher later, for instance.

Thank you both. I think you’re right about childcare. But I do think I could take it to running my own nursery or being a childminder.

I’ve just realised that I could top up my nutrition diploma and get a BSc in it in 18m for £10k. Which is quite good to know as I thought I’d have to do a full 3yrs for £30k to get a degree!
