Any nursery nurses? Does the job get better?

Started as a nursery nurse last month

I thought I'd really like it, but even after the first 3 days, I had a bad feeling

I feel deflated every evening and strangely down, but I can't quite pur my finger on why I feel this way or what I dislike about the job

Today, a colleague told me that another colleague had been dragged on for a shift with her child (who attends nursery) even though he had been 'really sick'. I am now concerned about the nursery policy on sickness and it also tells me something about how short staffed they are

Cutting my losses and quitting seems like a waste of time as it took weeks to get the checks done

Going forward, I can't see myself staying for any longer than seems reasonable to future porential employers

Bit of a mess

Any nursery nurses or workers had a similar experience? Did it get better? Any advice atall will be hugely appreciated!

It really depends on the nursery and how supported you feel.
It’s a hard job, for very little pay considering all the training you do. Ive been in nurseries for 9 years now and it’s all I’ve ever done. Ive worked for some horrendous ones but there are good employers too.

However I feel as if now I’m stuck in a rut and I’m desperate for something new.

If you’re not feeling it now then chances are it’s not for you. And if I was to have my time again i would of taken a completely different path.
