Sickness leave

Hi,
I've been off work within the NHS for 6 months following bereavement.
I returned last week.
If I was to be off sick tomorrow would I be eligible to self-certificate for 5 days or would I need to speak to my GP due to previous sick leave.
I've tried to phone HR to discuss but no-one is available until this afternoon. Tried to look online but can't seem to see the correct policy.
Just thought I'd ask here in case any wise knowledgable Mumsnetters are around.

You can self certify. Unless your employer has specified you need a certificate.

Is the reason you want to self certify due to your bereavement, sorry for your loss, or a different illness. If it is due to your bereavement would a phased return help you?
