Is anyone doing this? Or done this on the past?

I’m from a nursing background, and no longer wish to return to practice. I’m thinking retraining as med secretary I can work in local hospital or GP practice, probably part time to hopefully fit around children when they start school. But I am interested in working from home in the next couple of years doing transcription work. Really interested in finding out others experiences.
Thanks

I had a friend do this a number of years ago, I remember testing her on all the acronyms for the tests. Seems to have worked well for her. I think jobs often start based in the hospital with working from home coming later, but I'm sure covid may have changed that.

Thank you @PragmaticWench, yes I think it’s best to start off working in a hospital for first job.

That’s really positive to hear, it all worked out well for your friend.

I'm sure that this is what these people do....I may be wrong though!

Maybe worth a few questions to them?

Thank you @MissOrganisedMe that’s so helpful. I’m going to make myself a coffee and settle down and read the thread. Very much appreciated!

@Coffeeandbooks13 You're welcome. It's been ongoing for a while I think. Several threads but they look like they're pretty supportive to each other.

@Coffeeandbooks13 Hi how did you go on, did you decide to do medical transcription/become a medical secretary? Transcription work is laborious and low paid and also NHS medical secretaries are pushed to the limits now, with many down-banded to a 3. I regretted the transition I made from the clinical to admin side, except for the fact that transcription work offers the flexibility of working from home as and when, but that's about the only benefit.
