IVE GOT AN INTERVIEW FOR NHS PLS HELP

Hello! Am very happy! I've got an interview with the NHS for band 2 healthcare assistant, it's something I've wanted for a long time, but I'm dreading the interview I hate them, scared of messing up, any advice? Does anyone remember what they was asked or any tips could give, thanks so much!!!

Look up the Trust values and be prepared to have an example of when you have demonstrated them. You may get a question on how to deal with a challenging customer.

I have recently interviewed both band 2 and 3’s
Yes, trust values will come up.
How did you overcome a challenging situation.
What is the role? Ward based? Mental health? Community?
You’ll be fine :). Evidence that you can follow instruction and that you can also work autonomously.
What we were looking for more than anything was a genuine passion and interest in the work, people skills, and communication. The ability to learn any clinical skills you don’t already have eg, blood pressure etc.
I work in mental health so slightly different but I’m sure in a similar vein.

Not sure on NHS but assume it is like civil service. Checks values, behaviours and/or competencies they will evaluate you on and have examples in mind of each.

Also if you haven't got familiarly with STAR examples, practice doing them.

congrats on bagging the interview :)

I am a band 6 manager in NHS (admin though, not clinical) and the best bit of advice I can give, is even if you are super nervous, fake it til you make it!

I can't tell you how many interviews i've conducted where the candidates are so nervous they jut clam up and it's a struggle to get to the end of the interview.

Alternatively, just be really friendly and admit you are feeling really nervous!

i am not sure what sort of questions will be asked for a B2 HCA role as i have never interviewed for that role being admin. but a B2 admin post would consist of basic questions (entry level), such as:

  • tell us about your experience to date
  • what do you consider to be the three most important skills for the role on offer
  • scenario questions: what would you do if XYZ happened?
  • tell us why you are the best person for the role

research the trust values and behaviours as there SHOULD be 3 mandatory questions based around teh values and behaviours. these are usually scenario based such as:

  • a patient spills a hot drink on the waiting room floor, what would you do?
  • you are walking into work and notice an elderly lady looking lost and confused with a letter in her hand, what would you do?
  • you overhear a colleague talking negatively in the coffee room about a supervisor. what would you do?

again - the above might not be very helpful as i am answering from an admin perspective!

the most important thing to remember is, relax. they clearly liked your application enough to offer an interview - showcase your skills and prove why you are the best!

Be yourself ! Be interested ! Show enthusiasm that you wish to learn, be part of the team, committed to caring for others , ask if there is progression for an excellent team player , be flexible with shifts like nights weekends and lates

You'll be fine, interview and employ seems to be the thing just now, doesn't matter if you can do the job. And before anyone says not true, i heard it from an interviewer.
The amount of recently employed temporary staff that are less than bloody useless is astounding.
