Anyone here work in pay roll? Looking for some advice.

Hi, I work part time for a company and I use up all of my tax free allowance there. I’ve found another part time job which I have accepted. I’ll work there when I don’t work at my other job. I’ve filled out my HMRC starter check list for my second job and ticked the box “I have another job” so they can put me on the right tax code, however, my question is, will my currently employer who I work for know I’ve got a second job? My second job already know I work for someone else as I’ve declared it on my HMRC starter form but will my main employer know some how through pay roll?

Forgot to add , I’ve checked through my contract and it doesn’t stop me from working anywhere else. It’s not competitive or anything like that. I just don’t want the conversion with my manager when I tell him I’m working for someone else one day a week , because he will want me to work for him instead.

Your current employer would only get a notification of any tax code change. There would be no explanation of why or that you had another job at all. You can call HMRC yourself and tell them you want the full allowance to stay on your first job which shouldn't trigger a tax code change.

Your main employer won’t know. Your tax code with him won’t alter. And even if it did, he wouldn’t know why (the employer gets the code but not the breakdown of it).

He won’t see anything.

I thought this would be the case. Surely I’ll be put on a BR code at my second job. Why is @pinkcattydude saying different ?
