Handed CV in a week ago today. How long does it take to hear something?

I handed my CV in a week ago at my local GP practice for a medical receptionist post. How long is it reasonable to wait to hear anything?
Do they call or send a letter? My contact details are on there.

I work for the NHS (hospital)and normally fill in applications online, so this way is new to me.

a) Not all people that advertise jobs reply at all to those who are not successful
b)What was the closing date for applications on the job advertisement ?
c) what did it say about interview dates / start date etc ?

a) That's fair enough. It’s been sixteen years since last applying, so wasn’t sure.
b) My error, the thread title should have said closing date was last Friday, I handed in my CV lastTuesday,
c) No interview dates/start dates.

Oh well….at least it gave me the kick up the backside to update my CV.
