After being made redundant I've managed to secure a part find job on employed basis... however it's not enough hours.
I've got the opportunity to freelance and do some self employed work to help,
What you I do about tax etc... I know I'll have to register with HMRC that I'll be self employed again, is there a particular department that deals with the combination of both?

No, no separate dept. All sources of income go onto the same yearly self assessment tax return. You'll have one section for employment and a different section for self employment. To get set up, you need to register for self assessment via the gov.uk website and select the "starting self employment" box as the reason for registration. Then they send you your tax reference and a tax return after the tax year end.
