Any ex teachers who have retrained?

Hi.. as per heading im a secondary IT/Computer Science teacher looking at retraining to do something else? I like my job but there isn't much in terms of career progression and I find it pretty dull and boring .. I'm 7 years in now and just find every year/week so repetative. I was just wondering if anyone has retrained and what you do & your wage?

I quit after 13 years. I'm now in my second year of a pharmacy degree. Loving it!

Following with interest, teaching has more than lost its appeal lately! So far all I've come up with is win the lottery 🤞

Yes win the lottery! I would love to retrain to do something and then start up my own business. I have seen things such as project management, consultancy but I really need to do more research.

Me too, and I like teaching what I teach, but I want to just be able to live in just my private students and have more flexibility and less monotony

Do you have a related degree? If so, absolutely loads of jobs and careers in computing.

I am a soon to be ex-teacher and will be working as a dyslexia assessor. Did postgraduate certificate and diploma both part time over two years.

Watching with interest. Good luck op!

I'm currently looking at options to get out of teaching too. I do love my job however promoted posts do not appeal to me at all - I have no interest in dealing with parents/local authority bods/inspectors.

I do however REALLY want to progress in my career. I'm at the top of my salary scale and lots of jobs that interest me would involve taking too much of a pay cut.

I've been keeping an eye on education officer type jobs but nothing of interest coming up at all.

Not quite retrained, but moved to international teaching.

I love living overseas, the work/life balance is much better, & the salary considerably higher.

I kind of have a degree in computing. There are computing elements but it was a education and computing degree intertwined. I definitely want to come away from education related jobs though.

We get lots of ex teachers applying to join the Civil Service - lots of career options too.
