Second week - surely I shouldn't have 'the dread' already ?

Due to start my second week, NHS band 3 secretarial, and I already have 'the dread'. Why ???!

Having never worked for the NHS I was excited to start in a new sector, and especially as the role is based within mental health, I expected to be rushed off my feet. I get that I'm training, I get that due to covid things are slow and gone are the days of sat shadowing someone, but it's beyond slow. Even the rest of the team look bored, the work pace seems slow, barely enough work to pass the day and they're still recruiting.
Are other NHS departments like this? I just can't believe how quiet it is?

I work in the NHS and am anticipating it being quieter this week, always is over the holidays periods. It is generally always a bit quieter from May until Sept, just because less illness around, people are away and/or have other important stuff occupying their minds than going to the Dr...ramps up a fair bit over Autumn though! That's just my experience/Trust

Sucks to be bored though, nothing worse, loooonggg days! :)
