What do I do?

I got offered a job a week and a half ago which I accepted - it was a slight backwards step and less money, but I am aiming for less stress so was still really happy with it. However, today I have been offered a better job - about 10% more money and much better pension scheme... there are some downsides- the commute is slightly worse but overall it is regarded really highly as an employer.... I know what I want to do - go for the second job - but also know it would be unethical to ditch the first offer... what would you do?

Go for the job you want. Just make sure you tell the first employer ASAP.

Plenty of people have done this, accepted one job then taken another with a better offer.

You contact employer 1 and tell them your situation has changed and you are withdrawing your acceptance of the post, apologies for any inconvenience.

It happens a lot, don't worry about it.

As Hollyhocks says, it happens quite a lot and the employer 1 won't be massively inconvenienced, they just go to choice 2 of the people they interviewed and see if they're still available.

Thank you all for your guidance - I am going to press the button on the emails now and go for job 2...
