You need to check out your local area because its different the country over. Personally I charge £35 per day. For before and after school, I charge £3.50 per hour. I'm in SE London btw.

Mustsleep,
My childminder charges me £3.50/hour. For me, a CM is the best, as when you kids go to school, they can always go to the CM in case of emergency, like Snow, etc... if the schools close. I don't have any relatives around, so for me my CM is my saver in those occasions.

Sorry a bit late to this but I am a childminder in SE london too (Bromley Borough) and the range here is £4.00 - 5.00 ph.

If it is of help - Postcode searchable list of childminders in Leeds - alas, it does not seem to give pricing info - but does give contact details.

Ofsted are looking at how more information about childcare providers can be provided to parents, online. Please do complete their short survey - views from parents looking for a childminder will be most helpful to them.
