Tax Manager
Alan Patient & Co is looking for a qualified or QBE tax accountant who has experience working in small or medium sized practices who can effectively manage the accounts and tax affairs of a diverse portfolio of clients.

Duties and responsibilities
• Managing workflow of a portfolio of clients' sole trade accounts, personal tax returns and advising of tax liability payments (35%).
• Providing tax advice and planning including strategies and pitfalls of Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax (15%).
• Managing client relationships through regular contact by email, telephone and holding meetings with clients (10%).
• Meeting with potential client prospects to grow your portfolio of clients (10%).
• Assisting other members of staff on aspects of tax work they are undertaking (10%).
• Dealing with HMRC tax investigations on personal taxes (5%).
• Monitoring developments in tax legislation and advising staff member on potential problems or plan opportunities for clients as well as advising on how this might presents marketing potential of the firm (10%).
• Other ad-hoc duties (5%).
Qualification
• Qualified or QBE
Experience
• You will have worked in UK public practice in a tax role for a minimum of 2 years.
• You will have worked in small and medium sized practices for a minimum of 3 years.
• You will have managed personal tax clients.
• You will have used Xero.
• You will have experience of supervising and teaching other members of staff.
Job related knowledge aptitude and skills
Aside from being able to fulfil the duties and responsibilities of the role you will have: -
• Ability to complete accounts and tax return assignments to a good standard
• Exceptional written and spoken English
• Exemplary written, verbal and face to face communication skills and the ability to listen
• Excellent personal tax knowledge
• Good IT skills and ability to learn new systems
• Have the ability to use your own initiative to resolve issues while demonstrating good judgement of when to seek clarification
Hours
• Flexible, with more hours expected during busy periods especially tax return deadline season.
Salary
• Negotiable depending on experience
