So over a yr ago nearer 2 I tòok on more responsibility. My hope was to move up a grade and get a pay rise.
I worked really hard and learnt new things and was hoping to move up last April then we locked down.min wage went up twice still I'm on the same pay while all other places in my town are paying more.I was offered more money and decided to stay put.
Now I find out the company isn't going to pay more. This is to save the company.
I understand but I am so deflated. So fed up and I have no motivation.
I can't be alone in feeling like this.Im only 70 p above min wage for a job I trained 2 yrs for and have done for many.Moan over.

Why not move now to one of the other places paying more?

whatisforteamum · 21/04/2021 16:22

I will have to.I guess I believed the hope pay rises would come to those who work hard.Obviously times are tough.Feels like a kick in the balls.

Remember that you have very little job security for the first year (or even 2 years) in a job - so in this climate staying put, even if for a slightly lower wage, can be a sensible thing to do.

Good advice Bramshott.

Have you had a performance review and specifically asked for a pay rise? It would cost them money to hire your replacement so they may be open to it

whatisforteamum · 22/04/2021 08:59

We didn't get a performance review last yr it was due in April.I asked the manager and he said there are no pay rises as the company is saving money. So frustrating but I guess understandable.
I could use the skills elsewhere though so all is not wasted.

Start job hunting, there’s no downside to testing the market.

whatisforteamum · 22/04/2021 10:13

That is true I did apply to two places in lockdown and one offered me a job higher pay but a few less hours so less annually.
There are plenty in the area I live.

Get a new job. If you can get more money elsewhere, then prove it.

NoProblem123 · 28/04/2021 22:30

Get a job somewhere else. Pad out your cv with everything you have learnt, thank them, and move on.

Noproblem123
Thank you.No need to pad out CV I have 39 yrs experience. I have tried so hard it is dissapointing.
