What is your profession and would you recommend it?

I’m a sonographer and I would say most of my doctor friends would not recommend medicine as a career, which is think is a shame as it’s such an important one. I, on the other hand, would definitely recommend ultrasound / radiography as a career. It’s been varied, interesting and, for me, well paid.

Would you recommend your profession?

I’ve always liked the idea of sonography as a career, @Iheartbed. I’m a civil servant - it’s my second career and I assumed everyone would be dull and it would be overly beurocratic. I’m three years in and have met so many dynamic, bright people and done lots of interesting, challenging and worthwhile work.

I'm an English teacher in a very large secondary school in a naice village in the Midlands. I absolutely love my job. I work four days a week and earn just over £30k. I don't think I could work in an extremely challenging school, but the vast majority of the kids I teach are lovely, and I feel like my job, though exhausting at times, is important and worthwhile.

Teacher. I would NOT recommend.

Social worker.
I would recommend it because I've loved it but it's not for everyone.

Previously- pharmacist- no
Now- science teacher- yes and no

Chiropractor- yes I love it and it’s a great career

Solicitor. Absolutely not!

Accountant and yes

Not tonight. I am struggling with horrible number problems and other people’s vile spreadsheets against a deadline (accountant).

But usually I would recommend for those with a logical brain.

Media and advertising
Yes and no - depends on your wants and deal breakers

Teacher - yes, absolutely love it.

IT - yes. I think it is dependent on company/dept though. Mine are v supportive.
